Choose for the run you are actually practicing
To choose THRESHOLD perks, read the current menu and tooltip with your next objective in mind. The Scrow speedrun shown here uses Godspeed, but equipping it alone will not reproduce that run’s paper layout, movement or keypad execution.
For a first clear, learn the search and exit before treating a perk as the missing answer. For a timed clear, confirm what is equipped and compare runs with that same setup.
Check the current perk before acquiring it
Open the perk’s current information and read its effect, acquisition method and any displayed cost. Then inspect whether it is actually equipped for the next run. A perk listed in the menu may not be equipped.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Current tooltip | Gives the effect your version displays |
| Acquisition details | Tells you how the menu offers the perk |
| Displayed cost or requirement | Lets you judge the choice before committing |
| Equipped state | Confirms the next run’s setup |
| Objective you selected | Keeps the choice tied to a task you understand |
Do not assume that a perk is free, guaranteed from a particular attempt or available through an unlisted method. Use the menu’s present information for that decision.
Understand the Godspeed speedrun context
The Scrow route demonstration uses Godspeed while searching the food court and market for password papers. Movement speed is part of that player’s setup; the run also depends on recognizing paper glows, avoiding wasted searches and entering the current digits.
Use the live tooltip when you need exact values. A percentage stated in commentary should not replace the card currently shown in your game. The same applies to cash or XP mentions: inspect what the present perk information says rather than assuming a fixed reward multiplier.
Check the loadout as well as the route. If your setup differs from a fast recording, use the recording to learn the route before trying to match its time.
Compare runs without mixing several changes
Keep the same objective and equipped setup while practicing the route. Note where time went: the upstairs sweep, a wider market search, a return through an already checked area or the final keypad input.
Then change one part of your practice plan. If you change the route, objective and loadout together, you will not know which part helped.
| What slowed the run | Useful next practice |
|---|---|
| You revisited a completed area | Improve the search order |
| You missed a paper glow | Slow the scan at that area |
| You reached the keypad with an unclear code | Read gathered digits before entering |
| Your loadout differs from the reference | Compare with your current setup first |
| Paper placement forced a wider sweep | Practice finishing the less favorable layout |
These are practice decisions, not hidden perk effects. A better loadout does not collect a missed paper for you or confirm an incorrectly typed code.
Prioritize route knowledge over a tier label
If you are still learning Scrow, start with its search order and the final keypad interaction. Once those are repeatable, use the current perk information to decide which displayed effect addresses your problem.
Read the Scrow route guide for the search and the code-paper guide for missing digits or rejected inputs. If you are doing maintenance-key Chase instead, keep the deposit requirement and map search as the main task.
For beta changes, recheck the menu before using an old loadout recommendation. Check the current tooltip and equipped state even when you recognize the perk name from a recording.
FAQ
Which perk is used in the Scrow speedrun demonstration?
The route uses Godspeed. Check its current tooltip and equipped state before comparing your run with that setup.
Does Godspeed guarantee an under-one-minute clear?
No. Paper placement, route execution and keypad input still matter. Learn a repeatable clear before chasing a particular time.
What are the exact perk stats and cost?
Read the current menu’s tooltip and acquisition details. Do not replace them with a value from one player’s commentary.
Should a new player focus on perks first?
Learn the selected objective and exit interaction first. Then choose a displayed perk effect that addresses a specific problem in your runs.
